How much risk do you want to take as you get older?

Investing for your retirement comes with risks. It’s wise to think now about how much risk you want to take in retirement. When you’re young, that might be quite difficult. That’s why we want to help you get started.

We automatically reduce your investment risk

We will start reducing your investment risk based on your risk profile.

  • If you have a defensive profile and therefore take little investment risk, we will start reducing your investment risk 16 years before your retirement age. If you have a very defensive profile, we will start reducing your investment risk 19 years before your retirement age.
  • If you have a neutral risk profile, we will start reducing your investment risk 12 years before your retirement age.
  • If you have an aggressive profile, we will start reducing you investment risk much later: only 11 years before your retirement date. If you have a very aggressive profile, will start reducing your investment risk 9 years in advance.

You decide how much investment risk you still wish to take

> You wish to continue investing some of your pension capital after you retire
If you already know that you want to continue investing part of your pension capital during your retirement, factor that into your decisions now and reduce your investment risk in plenty of time.

> You want to take a higher investment risk while you are working
You may still be unsure whether you want to continue investing some of your pension capital after retirement. But if you want to take a higher investment risk while you’re working, you can change the rate at which you reduce the investment risk.

Good to know: you can change your risk profile on your personal pension page. We will reduce the risk accordingly.

In both situations, remember to change the rate at which your investment risk is reduced. We will continue to invest more in risky investments and less in risk-averse investments.

See what works for you

We realise that some people would rather not take that risk with their pensions. You can use the Profile Selector to check which risk profile is best for you. Complete the test today and we will help you choose an appropriate risk profile.

Nothing is set in stone

Whatever you decide, you can change your mind as often as you like. If the risk reduction phase is fast approaching, we will ask you to reconsider your selected investment risk anyway.

Something changed in your financial or personal situation?
